The teacher models reading processes and introduces the Questioning Circle in this innovative project which targets students’ reading and discussion skills.

Students read and discuss graphic texts, then use the graphic format to tell stories of their own, with special attention to how imagery and detail convey their chosen message.

Paying close attention to texts and creating deeper meaning from reading are the central themes of these lessons, which include a poster gallery walk centered on a work of literature, learning how to question and respond to a text, and using the format of a graphic text to deliver a personal story.
