Abstract

This early editorial describes efforts to apply literacy across all subject areas rather than relegating it to reading class or just language arts. Portfolio cultures encourage teachers to teach literacy skills in all disciplines. “Literacy learning has to overflow into mathematics, Spanish, earth science, and community service. No stopping until it is wall-to-wall.”
