Speaking and Listening in a New Key: Discursive Performances in Light of Common Core

This article addresses ways in which middle schools teachers can facilitate their students' acquisition of oral language production beyond sentence-level structures. The author provides a definition of discourse and strategies on how to develop discourse practices in middle school classrooms.
