Abstract

The authors in this issue of School Talk address the social constructions of ability and disability, particularly as these terms relate to such contested categories as learning disabilities. David Connor reminds us of our responsibility to teach with a focus on students rather than on labels, and Leah Bacharach and Christine La Plume share their use of inclusive literacy practices with all students in order to accommodate their diverse literacy needs.
