School Talk, Volume 16, Number 1, October 2010

The theme for this year’s volume of School Talk is New Visions for Literacy Education. We plan to explore ideas that will provide new visions from a variety of perspectives, ideas that take critical policy issues into consideration but that also live on the ground with teachers and kids today. Joanne Yatvin leads off the October issue with a discussion of “the invisible pillars of literacy,” and then Jaime Kanter and Tracy Ferrar provide fresh takes on writing instruction and literacy assessments.
