Abstract
Lead author Katie Wood Ray discusses the value of young children making books as a way to learn about the work of a writer. Penny Cecil, Cheryl Fuertges, and Mark Glover discuss the kind of classroom environment that children need as they’re learning to write; and Mary Alice Berry and Leslie Herald emphasize the importance of letting young children make choices about their writing.
