Abstract

Denny Taylor and a group of colleagues explore the functional and aesthetic use of print as a means to consider how best to support the literacy learning of young students. The group’s growing understanding of literacy as a social practice and reading and writing as cognitive processes precludes the prescriptive use of published curriculum materials.
