Abstract

Stories separate us from the other animals on our planet. It is through stories that we learn how to survive, cooperate, empathize. But as technology becomes more pervasive in our lives, how do we keep the humanities at the forefront of our thinking? Current educational initiatives like Common Core and STEM licensing may actually provide opportunities to integrate the humanities in STEM-related instruction and help us keep our human-ness at the center of our thinking and our teaching. Contributors Patsy Callaghan, Brandon Sams, and Sandra Jane Greek help us navigate these educational waters and look with hope at our possible futures.
