Abstract

Amidst the robust explosion of young adult literature, there is still debate about the reasons for its popularity and its value in the classroom. Some believe it is a genre appropriate only for struggling readers. Others question its quality and staying power. As a result, its use is often limited to remedial classes, silent reading, or bridges to canonical literature.
