Abstract

The author describes how the central principles of improvisational theater align with the facilitation of whole-class discussion, and how Viola Spolin’s framework for “sidecoaching”—the instructional practice of providing immediate, public, verbal feedback during a rehearsal—can inform discussion leadership.
