Abstract

Lisa K. Winkler believes it is essential for students to understand how and why censorship operates in school libraries and classrooms so that they may have the tools to speak for themselves to preserve their freedom to read.Her unit on censorship combines free-choice reading, mock trials, and writing assignments.
