The Power of Place

Abstract
The concept of place-based education shapes Sharon Bishop’s English language arts curriculum. High school students read literature of the region, inquire about the area they live in, and write the stories of their community. In the process, they come to recognize the value of community and acquire the skills to “live well anywhere.”
