Abstract
Martha Kolln’s “Rhetorical Grammar: A Modification Lesson” from the November 1996 issue of English Journal not only defines the rhetorical grammar as opposed to prescriptive grammar but also gives some history on why the benefits of teaching grammar have been so misunderstood.
