Abstract

Emily Bronte’s is now rather widely read and taught in senior high schools. This analysis is concerned with the sources of the novel’s “extraordinary force.” Mr. Goldstone, an associate professor of English at the State University Teachers College, Cortland, New York, edits the “Language and Literature” column which appears each month in the Journal.
