Abstract

Research has long acknowledged how important teachers are to student learning, but defining teacher quality isn’t as clear cut. This NCTE Policy Research Brief explores some of the factors that influence how teacher quality is defined and suggests approaches to support policymakers, researchers, and educators in their common pursuit of excellent teaching in our nation’s classrooms.
